Hi! My name is Ms. Shoger, and I am your Third grade ELA and Social Studies teacher. This is my thirteenth year at Gavilan Peak, and my twentieth year of teaching third grade. I have also taught three years of fourth grade. This is my twenty-third year of teaching! I have degrees from Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University.
I was born and raised in Arizona, and enjoy having family nearby. My son, Alex, is a graduate of Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona, majoring in Management and Finance. He is a Program Finance Manager for an aerospace and defense company.
One of my favorite subjects to teach is Reading. I love that, in third grade, we shift from “Learning to Read” to “Reading to Learn”. We begin writing multi-paragraph essays, and learn to write in cursive. Third graders also study Arizona history. State 48 is unique and we will enjoy learning about our state, together.
