Hi! My name is Shiyu Dai, and I am excited to be your 4th-grade Math, Science, and Chinese teacher this school year!
The 2026–2027 school year marks my 13th year as a K-12 teacher and my second year at Gavilan Peak School. I earned dual bachelor's degrees in China in 2014. After several years of teaching, I decided to further my education by earning a Master's degree in Mathematics Education from Dallas Baptist University in 2022. Also, I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in Curriculum and Instruction, with a concentration in STEM Education, at the University of North Texas.
I am passionate about creating engaging, inclusive, and hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence in every student. My goal is to help students develop strong mathematical reasoning, scientific inquiry skills, and a lifelong love of learning while encouraging them to grow both academically and personally.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and exploring innovative ideas in STEM education. I also enjoy contributing to the field of education through research and professional learning, which helps me bring new ideas and best practices into my classroom. I look forward to partnering with students and families to make this a successful, engaging, and memorable school year!
