Hello Firebirds! My name is Casey Chen (谌可心). I teach 7th- and 8th-grade Mandarin immersion classes and the Mandarin 1-2 class. I grew up in Xiamen, a city in southeastern China. I attended graduate school at Indiana University Bloomington and earned two Master's degrees: one in Chinese Pedagogy and one in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I started my teaching career in 2014, and before joining Gavilan Peak School, I taught Mandarin Chinese at Phoenix Country Day School for 6 years, including middle school and upper school classes. I look forward to having fun Chinese classes with all my students and helping them become lifelong learners!
